Johanna Shirley has run her own Operations Management Company for the exhibition industry for the last 25 years.  She has worked on a number of high profile Trade and Consumer Events.

logistics

Our particular areas of expertise include:

 

  • Understanding the client brief and budget to the sourcing, negotiation and implementation of contractor services.  Advising on budgets and ensuring that these are adhered to.

  • Dealing with contractors such as shell scheme suppliers, electricians, furniture, lifting specialists, hotels, telephones, car parking etc.  Negotiation of prices for exhibitors and organisers and supply of event information.

  • Venue sourcing and contract negotiation.

  • Full liaison with event venue planning department, local authorities, fire department, local council and police throughout the run up to the show and on-site.  

  • Health & Safety management and ensuring standards are met.

  • Production of event floorplan.  Working with sales teams and event director to ensure implementation of selling, feature and catering spaces.  

  • Exhibitors stand plan approval, working with the specific venue departments, stand designers and structural engineers.

  • Feature area and stand build.  

  • Provision of event personnel including floor managers, health & safety officers with venues such as Earls Court, Olympia Exhibition Centre, ExCeL London, Business Design Centre, Buckingham Palace, Denbies Vineyard, NEC and outdoor venues.

  • Event owner, exhibitor and sponsor liaison.

  • Liaison with feature personnel such as speakers, artists, television crews.

  • Running and provision of organiser office staff do provide contact for exhibitors, visitors and delegate queries.

  • Publication of exhibitor manual, delegate packs, speaker information, on-site staffing notes, health and safety documentation.

  • Regular updates and reporting to client.

Sales &

Marketing

The business management team at Scot-Baker can also deal with business lead and revenue generation, seek sponsors, and offer support of these revenue streams.

 

Scot-Baker are in a position to organise an entire event on behalf of you or alongside your team. Due to extensive experience in the sales and marketing arena, as well as overall exhibition and event management, we can offer complete management or support an existing team where required.

Johanna is a detail oriented Operational manager who is focused on delivering outstanding results within the budget and limitations imposed upon her. I worked with Jo for over a year during the creation of a major new 3 day outdoor event, which required the not insurmountable task of the building of over 2000 metres of exhibition space and a super theatre. Johanna worked completely independently as the point of contact between us, the event organisers and the contractors, proving she was extremely proficient at handling multiple relationships simultaneously. She also proved to be creative and inventive and skilful in the implementation of those ideas into a workable solution. As an event organiser, I would strongly recommend Jo and would love to work with her again on future projects, should the opportunity arise.
